2014 101st Airborne Division MA Veteran’s Fishing Trip
Fellow Army veterans enjoyed the 3rd annual 101st Airborne Association of New England fishing trip for veterans and wounded warriors of the North Shore. On board the fishing charter were veterans from Amesbury, Newburyport, Beverly, New Hampshire, Boston, and Connecticut. Some of them seek shelter at nearby veteran home. The annual deep-sea fishing trip is just the tip of the iceberg. The 101st Airborne Division Massachusetts Special Events provides area Veterans Service Officers with support for the veterans and their families on the North Shore. The main focus is to organize and fund special summertime events including deep-sea fishing trips for veterans, including homeless veterans from area shelters, and whale watches for veterans’ families.. The event was coordinated by Dick George, of Newburyport and executive director of the 101st Airborne Division Massachusetts Special Events; Dick Bazirgan, who contributed to the trip with his neighbors’ help; Charlene Dolan of the Veterans Legacy Initiative, and Kevin Hunt, the veterans service officer for Newburyport, Amesbury and Merrimac.

2013 101st Airborne Division MA Veteran’s Fishing Trip (3:00 minutes)
Fellow Army veterans enjoyed the second annual 101st Airborne Association of New England fishing trip for veterans and wounded warriors of the North Shore. On board the fishing charter were veterans from Amesbury, Newburyport, Beverly, New Hampshire, Boston, and Connecticut. Some of them seek shelter at nearby veteran home. But the trip was not all about the fishing. It was about the bond the veterans share regardless of their age and experience in the Army.
The event was coordinated by Dick George and Dick Kelley, two veterans who served in the storied division and are active in the association. Local businesses and private donors on the North Shore funded the trip.
